Ana Simoes – Jewellery

The main focus of Ana’s work is to explore visual possibilities within 2D and 3D geometric shapes and transform them into playful and/or interactive objects. When inverting and deconstructing these shapes she often uses colour, texture, repetition and layering; she finds these elements essential to create similar objects that can be perceived in different ways. Groups of boxes, frames and containers inspire her need in arranging the world and finding new answers in familiar, comfortable shapes. Model making during the design process is a necessary way of experimentation; and because of all its characteristics and possibilities, metal is the material chosen when making her pieces.
